Diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer
A skin check is important to detect a melanoma in the early stages and allowing the client early intervention. Most skin cancers that are diagnosed and treated early can be cured. If needed a simple excision for diagnosis is done by Dr Meyer and if required he will do further tests or do a referral to a specialist.
Surgical excision is considered to be the most effective way of removing skin cancer.
Post melanoma diagnosis
It is recommended that clients have a full body skin check at least every six months during the first 5 years after diagnosis of a melanoma.
Client recovery and after care is very important to the team and they will ensure you are cared for. Your wound will be treated appropriately and you will receive information on how to care for your wound and dressing post surgery.
Follow up appointments will be made to access the healing process, to remove sutures and to discuss the next step to recovery.
